I’m picking corn for Farm to Table
Picking corn ‘cause I’m still able
My fifth year of helping out
A pro by now I have no doubt
We volunteers assemble with zest
And by golly we pass the test
No meandering is allowed
Through the even rows of corn
Concentration is essential
And there’s no time for scorn
“Don’t pick them too small”, yells Tony
“Twist and turn then pull and toss them in the wagon”
Don’t lose your place
Or you’ll miss some ripened ears
“Yes sir,” we reply

Up and down the rows we go
Tractor driver's ahead of us
Picking corn is our endeavor
We’re at our best behavior
The sun is shining brightly
The sky’s a robin blue
It’s still early in the morning
And the air feels fresh and cool
Up and down the rows we go
Filling the wagons with crop
There’s no time to take a break
Up and down the rows we go
Filling the order is our goal
12,000 ears of corn today
Who knows about tomorrow
We haven’t got all day
Picking corn to feed the hungry
Volunteers will return again
We will pick as we are able
We’re the volunteers for Farm to Table.
