How to Volunteer During COVID-19 and Beyond

GROW FOOD • CULTIVATE RELATIONSHIPS • NOURISH COMMUNITY • FEED THE HUNGRY

Thanks for your interest in volunteering with Colorado Farm to Table (CFTT). We welcome people of all backgrounds to get involved growing high quality, nutritious produce for hungry families in Colorado. Working side-by-side, it’s a great way to soak up some sunshine, get in some high-altitude exercise and make new friends while helping those in need. We think you’ll find it to be a rewarding, hands-on experience.

It’s easy to lend a hand. No experience required! All you need is a willingness to pitch in, follow directions and be a team player. We’ll provide all the instructions, coaching and tools.

When do you harvest? Seasonal farm operations begin in April and end in October, but running the farm is a year-round endeavor. With only one full-time farmer and one part-time staffer, volunteers are critical to the successful operation and sustainability of CFTT.

What time do you start each day? To avoid high temperatures, farm shifts start at 7:50 AM and end at 11:00 AM Monday-Friday. Greenhouse shifts start at 7:30 A.M. We harvest in the morning so that our fresh produce can be picked up and delivered immediately following harvest. The farmer provides instructions 10 minutes before we start so please be sure to arrive on time and stay for the entire shift.

What should I bring? All you need are some work gloves, a water bottle, a hat and some sunscreen. We provide all the tools.

Where is the farm located? You’ll find us on Hwy 291, across from the Scanga Meat Company. Park inside, near the Colorado Farm to Table sign. The Greenhouse is located in Smeltertown at 7750 C/R 150, about 200 yards from Simple Greens.

What will I be doing? Volunteers help in the greenhouse as well as with irrigation, planting, tending, weeding, harvesting and gleaning “farm work.” At CFTT, there’s a wide range of opportunities to help. If you’d like to join in, there is a place for you!

How do I get started? Since you’ve already signed up, simply be on the lookout for emails with details about available opportunities! By the way, your contact information is kept in complete confidence.

How else can I help? Like us on Facebook page and share our posts:  www.facebook.com/nonprofitfarm Check us out on Instagram:  www.instagram.com/colorado_farm_to__table. Make a tax-deductible donation to provide fresh, nourishing produce where it’s most needed through Colorado Farm To Table.

We look forward to working the fields with you and sharing the bounty with hungry families in Colorado!
